LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- An old pipe at the three-way intersection of Palmer Avenue and Depot Way East burst and caused a leak early Wednesday, said Dee Gameiro, a foreman with the Larchmont Department of Public Works.
The DPW, along with the Water Department, shut off the pipe, which did not service any actual buildings. Gameiro said the pipe ended in the adjacent park, which may have been home to a water fountain some time in the past.
The DPW blocked one lane between Hall Avenue and Depot Way East to excavate the road and access the pipe beginning Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. Gameiro anticipated the project would be completed the same day, as he waited for a colleague to return with the K-Crete they will use to restore the road.
