MAMARONECK, N.Y. Next Friday, Sept. 28, Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Television, Inc. will host its annual screening of films made during this years Teen Summer Filmmaking Workshops.
The screening will be held at the Mamaroneck High School television studio, starting at 8 p.m.
During the two workshops, held in July and August, students learned writing, acting, directing and editing of their own short films while helping to make two documentaries.
Dena Schumacher, one of the workshop instructors who is also studio production coordinator for LMC-TV, said the workshops are enjoyable because "you trick the kids into learning when they are having fun.
The two documentaries to be shown at the screenings are Hint and Verlantis.
Hint is a murder/mystery inspired by the popular board game Clue and the Agatha Christie book "And Then There Were None."
The kids started reading the book while they were working on the documentary, said Schumacher.
Verlantis follows a scientist and explorer after their plane crashes on an enchanted island, revealing a hidden civilization and the secrets of its people, according to a news release.
The second one was fun to do because the kids got to shoot at numerous locations, Schumacher said.
The TV studio is located on the Palmer side of Mamaroneck High School. Light refreshments and snacks will be served at the screening.
