The paint-your-own pottery store, which opened in October, offers plaster, ceramic and wood pieces for adults and children to paint.

The pieces range from $6 - $40, and can be anything from a small figure to a large vase.

Grabowski, of Pelham, opened the store after buying the property from its previous owner because she longed to spend time with her children while operating a business.

"I'm a mother, and I wanted to have freedom to work and see my kids," she said, "I paint pottery myself, so I became friends with the owner and she told me she was trying to sell the place, and that's how it got started."

According to Grabowski, her most popular clientele are mothers with children.

Starting next week, the store will offer special needs children's programs with a licensed therapist, story time and painting sessions, pottery classes, and birthday packages which include disco dancing and a light show.

Additionally, Grabowski plans on bringing local artists, entrepreneurs, specialists and lecturers for Thursday "happy hour", when adults can bring their own wine and cheese to share while painting pottery.

The Plaster Palace is at 2005 Palmer Ave. Walk-ins are accepted and encouraged.
