Larchmont's Judy Rothschild said she believes politics play no part in the sex scandal of former Rep. Anthony Weiner, who resigned from New York's 9th Congressional District Thursday. "He didn't do anything," Rothschild said. "Between him and his wife, there's something, but between him and the media, there's nothing."
It seems that like most Larchmont residents, Rothschild lacked the fervor that has driven three-weeks of backlash for the inappropriate pictures that Weiner sent to college students. Most residents told The Daily Larchmont that they didn't care, or called the former Congressman's actions "stupid." Lauren Smith, of New Rochelle, stopped walking along Boston Post Rd. to say that she expected Weiner to resign from his elected post.
For some residents, they said that it wasn't so much what he did, but that he lied about his actions. Also, locals said they took issue with how his actions reflect on his marriage and the Democratic party over all. "Him denying it in the beginning was unforgivable," said Linda Verrastro, a Larchmont resident who works at the Larchmont Public Library.
