Temperatures are expected to climb to the mid-30s during the day Sunday and then drop to the mid-teens at night, when snow will begin to fall. It is expected to continue throughout the day Monday, with shoreline communities getting more than those in the northern communities in the latest storm to hit the area, and first of March, after one of the snowiest Februaries on record.

Walter Panas High School seniors Catherine Faruolo, 17, and Eleanor Maloney, 18, said the snow is starting to get to them.

“I’m not feeling it,” said Maloney, a senior at Walter Panas High School.

Faruolo said she lives on a hill in Cortlandt Manor, which makes these storms a real uphill climb just to get home. Both said they don’t want to give up what’s left of their April vacation days, but are trying to look for silver linings.

Similarly, Tom Robinson, of Peekskill, said if it is going to be cold, he would rather it snow, too, so that he can make snowmen with his toddler-age son and go skiing. Of course, the snow possess problems for even the most optimistic of winter sport fans.

“I just don’t want to lose another day of school,” said Robinson, who added Peekskill schools have already lost one day of its April break to make up for the excess of snow days this winter.

Another teacher in the White Plains School District said they have also lost some of its April vacation days, and may lose more Monday if the district decides to close due to the snow storm rolling into the area.
