To the editor:
St. John's Episcopal Church at 4 West Fountain Square in the Manor Park section of Larchmont sponsored a furniture drive because the church itself is a member of the Westchester Refugee Task Force (WRTF).
This drive will support the refugee families that are set to arrive in Connecticut this year. This effort is to help refugees from the Middle East — mostly from Syria and Afghanistan.
St. John’s Episcopal Church in Larchmont, as a member of the Westchester Refugee Task Force (WRTF), sponsored a furniture drive to gather some basic furnishings for refugee families this summer.
This was enough to furnish apartments for refugee families for Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services (IRIS), based in New Haven, Conn.
Larchmont is a town with a big French community. France has been a target for terrorism, most recently with the attack on Bastille Day, which claimed more than 80 lives. France is our oldest ally.
Supporting this organization and these refugees goes against the effort to end terrorism, and it can open the door further for future terrorist attacks which are caused by ISIS, and supported by other Middle Eastern terror groups.
