Seth Rothman wears many hats as LMC-TV's community sports producer, including announcer, reporter and editor. Tuesday, he announced a 10-week 24-game "Best Of" schedule that will re-broadcast games aired during the school year, beginning Friday.
This will be the second summer LMC-TV re-airs games from the school year, and Rothman likes the line-up."It's a pretty good schedule of some of the better games that we covered," Rothman said. "I'm a hockey guy, so I think those were some pretty entertaining games. But I think the entire schedule is full of games that people will be excited to see over again."LMC-TV airs 70 to 75 high school games every year from September to June, which includes every home game for Mamaroneck and Rye Neck High Schools, and any playoff games. In order to do that, LMC-TV needs someone like Rothman.
"I sort of like to joke I'm a one-man band with a camera crew," said Rothman, who began with LMC-TV in 2008. "But i've got announcers and camera people and we go out and we shoot two-to-three games a week."
Rothman's demanding role will ease a bit with no more games to film during the summer. During the school year, the Mamaroneck High School graduate schedules all of the crews, which are all freelancers or students, drives the crew and equipment to the games, and then helps each member set-up before he takes the microphone to deliver the pre-game introduction.
The summer schedule includes eight Section 1 playoff games, including soccer, field hockey, basketball, ice hockey, softball and baseball.
The series will kick-off Friday June 24 with a double header of Rye Neck football beginning at 8 p.m. Mamaroneck baseball and Rye Neck softball will close the series of games on August 26.
