WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - The water in Long Island Sound is safe for swimming this weekend, as there has been little or no rain in recent days, the environmental group Save The Sound said in its swim alert for June 1 and 2.
Whenever it rains at least half an inch within 24 hours, the Westchester County Health Department closes the following beaches for one day: Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, Shore Acres and Orienta Club in Mamaroneck; Hudson Park, Echo Bay Club, Davenport Club, Greentree Club and Surf Club in New Rochelle; and Coveleigh Club in Rye.
If it rains more than an inch, they remain closed for two days.
