LARCHMONT, N.Y. - While some Larchmont residents will watch the Sound Shore fireworks displays from Manor Park, many are packing up and shipping out for the July 4 holiday.
One of the most popular destination seems to be the Jersey Shore, where both Adam King and Christina Bischoff will spend Indepence Day watching fireworks with their families. Marian Martucci will spend July 4 in Darien, C.T. with her daughter, who just had a baby boy June 23. Martucci's friend Gina Leddy will also be celebrating the holiday in Connecticut, but in Stamford.
This year Paula and Stephen Morvay will try their luck at Atlantic City. "We're trying something really new," Paula said. "We have friends who went last year and had a good time."
For those staying local, the Village of Larchmont doesn't have it's own fireworks display, but it offers a unique view of the neighboring town's displays, including those from Mamaroneck's Harbor Island Park, Rye Playland, New Rochelle's Five Island Park and even some on Long Island.
Although her friend Laura Herzig will be in Washington D.C. Jane Symington and her son Will, who turns nine on July11, are staying in Larchmont to watch the fireworks from the Larchmont Yacht Club, like they've done every year since he was born.
The Larchmont Yacht Club, along with Bonnie Briar Country Club offer their own fireworks display for members. Bonnie Briar's display was Saturday at 9:15 p.m., while the Larchmont Yacht Club's display is Monday, also at 9:15 p.m.
