The national LWV, a non-partisan political organization, voted unanimously recently to participate in the march.

Its goal, it says, is to encourage “active participation in government and seeks to influence public policy through education and advocacy.”

“We march to reform money in politics. We march for health care. We march for the environment. These are our core issues and we want to ensure they are front and center.” LWVUS said in a Jan. 11 missive to its members.

The march is scheduled to take place the day after Bedford’s Donald J. Trump is sworn in as president.

According to The Women’s March on Washington’s website, the rally aims to “send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world, that women’s rights are human rights.”

According to a report by The New York Times, organizers expect at least 200,000 people to show up in D.C. Law enforcement authorities, however, are planning for a crowd that could be twice that size, The New York Times story said.

It is set to start at 10 a.m. at Independence Avenue and Third Street S.W. and last until about 5 p.m.

As of last week, the final route had not been determined.
