The event is sponsored every year by the Music and Arts store on Mamaroneck Avenue in honor of John Lennon.
This year, 5 percent of all food and drink sales went to Long Beach High School.
People of all ages came up and performed hits such as “Imagine”, “Starting Over”, and “In my Life.”
Vito Calamito, manager of the Music and Arts store, was happy with the overall turnout.
“ To see everyone come out is great,” he said.
Alan Goodman, a music teacher at Chatsworth Avenue School and ukulele player, performed “In My Life” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
He also appreciated the turnout and effort to help those affected by the storm.
“I’m really happy they’re doing something about it. I live in Mamaroneck, and our community is going to pitch in and help out.”
In addition to the sales from food and drink, guests were also encouraged to buy raffle tickets. Prizes ranging from music lessons to a Beatles-themed gift basket were up for grabs
Calamito said the Beatles was a good theme for the night because of what they stood for. Also, music as a whole has a healing effect.
“They preached love, peace and anything to give back. Music in general just gets your mind off things. When you combine that with giving back its the best of both worlds.”
