MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Westchester County Board of Elections threw out a challenge to the Village of Mamaroneck Republican party's designating petition for the re-election campaigns of Mayor Norman Rosenblum and Deputy Mayor Louis Santoro, according to a letter from the County.
In a split decision between Deputy Commissioners Jeannie L. Palazola and Nancy E. Maheen, the county declared the two sitting Republicans' bid for re-election valid.
"This Board has ruled on the specifications of objections filed by you against the Republican Party designating petition purporting to nominate Norman S. Rosenblum for the office of Mayor and Louis N. Santoro for the office of Trustee, Village of Mamaroneck," the Deputy Commissioners wrote in a ruling addressed to Randi Robinowitz, the village Democratic Party chairwoman.
The letter says that because the decision was split, the petitions remained valid.
The reason for the challenge was unclear from the letter.
