Though all candidates are running unopposed, each feels strongly about the mission of the library, which was recently expanded, and what it contributes to the community.

"The trustees' primary responsibilities are fiduciary," said Susan Riley, library director, "They set the policies for the library and work on long range plans. They also hire the library director."

Library trustees are elected to three-year terms, which they can serve a total of three times.

"Many stay on for the whole nine years," Riley said, "They really love library."

Susan Feitler is returning to complete one year left of a term she had to postpone.

"The Mamaroneck Library is a vital part of the community," she said. "I am hoping to join the board to support an important part of the village that provides essential free services to all socioeconomic groups."

Joe Germano is a lifelong resident of the Village of Mamaroneck and has owned several local businesses. He hopes to be more active in the community now that he has more time.

"I am very interested in the community. I've always served on committees in town," he said, "Now I have some time, and I'm really interested in the library, especially with its great expanison. If there is something I can help with, I would love to serve on the board."

The other candidates are returning members Laurie Girsky, a founding principal of a financial planning firm; Joseph Vozza, a local attorney and Steven Warner, a Mamaroneck native who is currently a Chief Investment Officer for a private business in New York City.

The library budget vote will also be held on Dec. 11.
