Mamaroneck Mayor Warns Against Con Edison Impersonators

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Mamaroneck Village Mayor Norman Rosenblum warned residents on Wednesday that there are reports of individuals falsely claiming to work for Con Edison in order to access homes and receive confidential information.

Similar incidents were reported in October of men impersonating Westchester Joint Water Works employees in order to gain access to homes in the Village of Mamaroneck and Harrison. 

The mayor offered the following information for residents:

  • All Con Edison personnel are required to wear identification picture badges and to display them .
  • If anyone who claims to be with Con Edison and requires entry or asks for information without showing their identification, please do not answer any questions or let them into the residence
  • Immediately contact the police department and, if possible, give a physical description
  • Please make sure all children are aware not to respond or let anyone in the home
