Mamaroneck Residents' Bank Accounts Accessed Fraudulently

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Four town residents received distressing calls from their banks over the last week: their debit cards had been fraudulently used and thousands of dollars were withdrawn from their accounts, said Lt. Robert Koziak of the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department.

The four reported identity thefts happened within a three day period, and involved an unknown suspect accessing the victims’ bank accounts, none of which reported their cards stolen. A Vine Road resident, 52, was notified Feb. 21 that their debit card was used to make purchases totaling $4,800.  On Feb. 20, two Hickory Grove Drive residents found out that someone had accessed their account and made withdrawals. One resident's account had fraudulent withdrawals of $200 and $800, while the other had one of $7,200.

On Feb. 19, a Rockingstone Avenue resident, 42, had $500 less in his account than the day before. All four incidents are under investigation by the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department.
