MAMARONECK, N.Y. The first phase of the much-debated Property Reassessment Project began Monday in the Saxon Woods area of the Town of Mamaroneck, according to David Barnett of GAR Associates, which was hired to perform the revaluation.
When GAR Associates staff members, who all will have photo identification on them during their field inspections, come to your home, they will ask to look inside. If residents refuse or are not home, they will perform an exterior inspection, including measurements and photographs.
In an effort to encourage their residents to participate in the revaluation, the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees will vote Monday on a resolution waiving applicable penalties for having work done to village homes without the proper permits or approvals, a major concern for many village and town residents. All other regulations, land-use approvals and building permit applications and fees will continue to apply in the village.
Data collectors are currently inspecting homes in the area bordering the Town of Harrison to the east, the Town of Scarsdale to the northwest and Fenimore Road to the south. This process is expected to continue through July 2012.
Residents can find a bi-weekly progress report on the Town of Mamaroneck website . The town assessment office, clerks office and local police will have a vehicle list of all project staff members.
