MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Larchmont postponed Halloween trick-or-treating Wednesday, while the Town of Mamaroneck is strongly advising parents not to take their children out due to the damage left by Hurricane Sandy.

Those who decide to go trick-or-treating are asked to take extreme caution with many trees and power wires down.

The Village of Mamaroneck is also asking parents to refrain from participating in trick-or-treating Wednesday because of the dangers of downed trees and limbs.

Additionally, tax payments due Wednesday in the Town of Mamaroneck will be accepted until Friday at 4 p.m. Tax payments mailed in must be postmarked with an official postal stamp by Friday.

About half of Mamaroneck and two-thirds of Larchmont were still without power Wednesday afternoon, according to the Con Edison website. There are 3,656 outages in the village, 3,577 in the town and 1,543 in Larchmont.

Do the towns (Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Rye, White Plains, Pelham, New Rochelle, Eastchester or any of the other neighboring towns) have any plans for this weekend for kids to celebrate the Halloween festivities?
