MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Village of Mamaroneck will pave nearly a dozen streets Monday Dec. 8 through Friday Dec. 12.

This year, the Village once again participated with the Town of Mamaroneck, the City of New Rochelle and other area municipalities to create a larger purchasing group and obtained a more cost-effective unit price for paving, according to Mamaroneck Village Manager Richard Slingerland.

On Monday Dec. 8, Slingerland issued this update: "Due to the predicted heavy rainfall from tonight into Wednesday, it is possible and likely that paving scheduled to start on Wednesday. . . may be delayed a day or two. We will keep everyone informed as we have a better idea of the weather over the next several days."

Weather-permitting, the Department of Public Works planned milling and paving to take place as follows:

-- Monday, Dec. 8 – Utility mark-outs and valve, catch-basin and manhole adjustments.

-- Tuesday, Dec. 9 – Milling and grinding down of roads prior to paving to maintain the crown of the road and proper drainage.

-- Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 10, 11 and 12, paving will take place on the following village roads:

Mt. Pleasant Avenue from West Boston Post Road (US 1) to Prospect; West Street -- Harrison Avenue to Village Line (and parts of Park Avenue); River Street – entire length; Melbourne Avenue – entire length; Van Ranst Place – Mamaroneck Avenue to Jefferson; Columbia Fire House parking lot; Picone’s Sausage factory – this is part of area and property restoration that is necessary due to the Jefferson Avenue Bridge construction project; Prospect Ave – half a lane, from Mamaroneck Avenue to the Library; Louise Street – north side, half a lane, from Andrew St. to the dead end.
