Mamaroneck's Carlton House Target of Five Car Break-Ins

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Town of Mamaroneck Police Department received five reports of smashed car windows parked in the same 35 N. Chatsworth Ave. apartment building parking lot the morning of Feb. 4.  Of the five tenants at the Carlton House apartments in the Town of Mamaroneck, only one reported anything missing from their car. In addition to $700 worth of damage to her right front car window, the owner of a 2000 Mercedez Benz reported stolen a Garmin GPS worth $350, an iPod worth $400, an iPhone charger worth $80 and Ray-Ban sunglasses worth $150.  All five victims reported at least $500 in damage to their cars, which include a 2011 Mercedes, a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, a 2000 Mercedes, a 2002 Lexus and a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder. The town police are investigating the crimes, which are classified as third-degree criminal mischief. Detectives, who held a Crime Prevention Workshop Wednesday, said this type of crime typically occurs in spurts.
