Mamaroneck's Chef Johnson Breaks 700 Votes in Food Network Contest

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Chef Johnson is in the running to win a segment on the Food Network show "Eat St." with over 700 votes after one week.

Johnson's 717 votes as of Thursday afternoon put him in sixth place. He and his son Lil' Johnson Jr. began serving Mamaroneck out of the green Johnson Truck in the summer of 2011 in Harbor Island, bringing a taste of Louisiana to the community. Their authentic cuisine includes smoked gouda grilled cheese, real lobster roll, Louisiana lobster chowder, mac N' cheese Johnson, Johnson family chili, Johnson jambalaya and others.

They created a minute-long video highlighting their southern style and creativity, not only with naming their dishes, but video effects.

Voting is open from Jan. 5 through Jan. 31. The five videos with the highest number of votes will win the Fan Favorite award and will be eligible to win the grand prize – an "Eat St." segment starring their cart.

Some of their competitors include Gorilla Cheese (1205 views), The Bacon Wagon (915), Hot Diggity Dog (860), Wescott Country Kitchen (790) and Wings Express (786). The Johnson's video has been viewed 4,511 times.
