Service was suspended on the Harlem line for nearly an hour before being restored for a short time at 8:45 a.m., according to Anders. Full service was not restored until after 10:30 a.m.

Police and firefighters were at the scene near Pipeline Road, which runs along the train tracks.

Metro North reported that the incident occurred at or near 8 a.m. (7:51 a.m. train) when the train from Southeast headed into Grand Central Station struck the man. Power to the tracks was turned off and passengers were delayed until they could be moved off the train, according to Anders' statement.

The Fire Department said the victim's name will not be released until his family has been notified and its investigation is completed.
