MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Larchmont/Mamaroneck Community Television has hosted a series of interviews with candidates seeking local office in the Nov. 8 elections.

The public access channel offers each political party, as well as independent candidates, two 30-minute videos. Some choose to use the LMC-TV studios, while others use their equipment to shoot on their own.

The "Meet The Candidates" series pre-dates Erik Lewis, executive director of LMC-TV, who began there in 1999.

"It's a traditional show that we offer candidates," Lewis said. "We have a political programming policy, the purpose of which is to provide a platform for political candidates so they can talk directly to the people they're trying to reach, the voters."

While candidates are free to appear on other people's shows, Lewis said, candidates who themselves host a show aren't given the forum.

"We consider ourselves a completely level playing field for all candidates and parties," Lewis said. "We don't want to give more face time to one or the other."

The "Meet the Candidates" videos will continue to air on LMC-TV up until election night, and are available On Demand on their website. On election night, the staff will host live coverage of the results, which features in-studio interviews with candidates, as well as coverage of the respective party's headquarters.

Visit The Daily Mamaroneck's Election Page for more information on the candidates.
