Metro-North Bans Alcohol On Westchester Trains For SantaCon

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Metro-North has imposed a 24-hour ban on alcohol on all trains coming in and out of New York City, including Westchester County.

The ban is being put in place because of SantaCon, the annual athering of people dressed in Santa Claus costumes parading publicly on streets and in bars in cities around the world.

The ban will be enforced by MTA Police starting at noon on Saturday, Dec. 14 and running until noon on Sunday, Dec. 15. police will confiscate illegal liquor and issue summonses carrying fines up to $50 or 30 days imprisonment or both. Violators may also be subject to ejection from the train or station by police.
