McClellan was discovered on top of the train car shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday after the 5:02 a.m. train from Stamford to Grand Central lost power as it was pulling in to Riverside Station in Greenwich.

Workers inspecting the power outage found McClellan on top of the train on fire, and used extinguishers to put out the flames. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y., to be treated for burns on 85 percent of his body. He was listed in critical condition before he died of his injuries at about midday Monday.

"We still are not sure how he got on top of the train. Police are investigating," said Metro-North spokeswoman Meredith Daniels.

Early reports said McClellan had jumped on top of the moving train near the Stamford/Greenwich border. Daniels said the possibility that he jumped onto the train has not yet been ruled out.

"They're investigating every possibility," she said, adding that more information should be available by Wednesday.

McClellen was electrocuted and burned after a pantograph — which connects the train car to the overhead power wires — fell on him as the train entered the station, Metro-North has said.

According to his Facebook page, McClellan was originally from Cleveland and was living in Manhattan, where he worked as an actor and model. His page was filled with notes of sympathy and remembrance after news of his death broke Monday.

"My dear nephew Brian, my heart aches this morning. I will miss you dearly, your beautiful smile, your warm personality, and your positive outlook on life. You were such a wonderful joy to us all. Be at peace, it was too soon for you to be taken from us all, you will be in our hearts forever. RIP, Brian," wrote one woman.

Another wrote, "You were the first friend I made at North Royalton. You smiled at everyone, and took time to say hello to everyone that came your way. I will never forget you. Prayers to your family. We all love you, and will miss you so very much. Brian McClellen, thank you for being there for me."

Many remembered McClellan for his kindness, talent and how full of life he was.

"Brian McClellen, we will all miss you greatly. You were an amazing man and I have never met such a beautiful person in my life. We have had so many adventures together and memories. "R.I.P Brian McClellen. We went to middle school together. You were always so happy and cheerful. You were the very first person to offer me a seat at your lunch table the first day I came to school.
