New Toyota Service Center To Open In Mamaroneck

DCH Toyota City in Mamaroneck will soon open a new service center separate from the dealership on Boston Post Road, which currently handles all car service for Toyota owners in the area.

"We want to offer customers a better experience," said Carlos Cueto, general manager at DHC Toyota City.

Cueto said the center is expected to open within the next 30 days, and that there have been numerous setbacks. The center was orginally meant to open in 2009, but was delayed due to financial constraints following the global economic crisis of 2008.

The new center is located at 700 Waverly Ave., two miles south of the dealership near the border of Larchmont and Mamaroneck, and is twice the size of the current center. The facility will feature state-of-the-art equipment, shuttle service within eight miles and a fleet of 20 loaner cars. There will also be a coffee bar, computer room, and a more comfortable waiting area.

Rye resident Albert Eckwerth was waitibng yesterday for his new Sienna to get a tune-up.

"This place is nice, but I would like to see the new center," Eckwerth said.

Cueto said Toyota owners come from all over Westchester County and parts of Connecticut for service, and that coming to the new center "will be worth the trip."

For Mamaroneck resident and Rye librarian Maria Legonia, who purchased a 2004 Corolla form Toyota City, improved service will not convince her to visit the new service center.

"They do great work, but it's expensive," Legonia said. "I take my car to my brother-in-law. He used to be a mechanic."
