Police Stake Out Store, Catch Suspect in the Act

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- A Larchmont Police detective arrested a Mamaroneck man who was in the act of robbing a Boston Post Road store on July 5. That same day, the owner of the store reported that money had been taken from the register six different times between June 26 and July 3. The detective was reportedly monitoring the store when Omar Skeete, 25, attempted to break in. Skeete was charged with seven counts of burglary.

A second man, Rostam Eslampour, 23, was also arrested. The Wilmot, New Rochelle resident was charged with two counts of helping Skeete, in addition to possession of stolen property. He was arraigned and released on $2,500 bail. Skeete was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.

The folowing items were also repoted by the Larchmont Police Department between July 2 and July 9:

• On July5, a Larchmont Police Officer discovered graffiti on a stop sign at Flint Ave. and Shore Drive.

• The owner of a Larchmont Ave. establishment reported on July 5 that graffiti had been sprayed on the rear of his building.

• A Larchmont Department of Public Works employee reported discovering graffiti on the nature trail deck in Flint Park on July 6.

• A Kane Ave. resident reported on July 6 that someone fraudulently opened numerous new credit card accounts in her name and posted charges in excess of $30,000. In addition to the preceding, Larchmont police officers also responded to 14 burglar alarms, five motor vehicle accidents, eight aided cases and 64 other calls for service.
