Mamaroneck High School To Participate In Jazz Festival

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- The 11th annual Sleepy Hollow Jazz Festival will be held on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kusel Auditorium at Sleepy Hollow High School.

It will feature nine of the finest high school jazz bands in the area. It will also be showcasing three extraordinary guest artists composer and pianist Mike Holober, trumpet player Chris Persad and Grammy award winning D’Addario performing artist baritone saxophonist Lauren Sevian.

The guest artists will listen to performances by all nine bands and interact with the groups during the day in clinics. They will share their love of music and knowledge of the jazz idiom with the students, and then select three bands to perform in the concert.

In addition, all bands are eligible for awards such as outstanding soloist, best brass section and best rhythm section. The schools participating are Ardsley High School; Blind Brook High School; Lakeland High School; Mahopac High School; Mamaroneck High School; Monroe-Woodbury High School; Port Chester High School and Sleepy Hollow High School.

This program is made possible by the support of the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns and the generosity of those attending the concert. A special thank you to D’Addario and Company for supplying prize packs for each participating group.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students.
