CARMEL, N.Y. The cause of the fire that killed four members of the Sullivan family will take another week because the Carmel Police Department needs more time to review evidence, Chief Michael Johnson said.
The cause of the May 1 was supposed to be announced this week.
The fire claimed the lives of Larchmont Police Capt. Thomas Sullivan Sr., 48, Donna Sullivan, 47, Meaghan, 17 and Mairead, 15. Thomas Sullivan Jr., 20, was the only family member to survive the blaze.
All the information and documentation that is pertinent to the investigation has not been received as of yet, Johnson said in a press release.
Johnson said the public would be informed of the cause of the fire once, all the information has been gathered and a definitive determination has been made after careful consideration of all the available evidence with regards to the cause of the fire.
