The Best Wi-Fi Spots in Mamaroneck and Larchmont

Barry Horbal spends a lot of time at Cosi, but not because of the special bread. He, like many other Larchmont and Mamaroneck residents, likes to use the free wireless connection to the Internet, also called WiFi.

Several other locations in Mamaroneck and Larchmont also offer free Wi-Fi, but residents have a few favorite hotspots.

Horbal, a Larchmont resident, said he went to Cosi at 11:30 a.m. one day and worked through 4 p.m. and, on any given day, can spend multiple hours typing away on his computer.

"As long as you order a tea or something, they'll pretty much let you stay here all day," said Horbal, who prefers Cosi because he said it's quieter than the Starbucks down Boston Post Rd. "When school lets out, it gets pretty noisy there."

With the school year ending, that 3 o'clock rush may not be as much of a factor, but many, like Mamaroneck resident Tanya Karsou, go to Starbucks to use the internet, regardless.

"It's a good place to do work," said Karsou, one hour before the high school let out for the day.

Starbucks also attracts those in town for the day, such as Shevon Miller, who came from the city. Miller's mom visits friends in Mamaroneck, so she comes into Starbucks to use the Wi-Fi.

When asked what other Wi-Fi hotspots there were in Mamaroneck and Larchmont, most had to think for a moment. Miller and Karsou said the library. Meanwhile, Horbal and Brian Borouak, a Portchester resident, named the other Starbucks on Palmer Ave in Larchmont.

Just across the street from Larchmont's Starbucks, Aroma Cafe offers wireless Internet, in addition to Red Mango, where one of the workers said she always sees people bringing in their laptops.
