Thieves Break Into Parked Cars, Steal Electronics

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Two men robbed a 21-year old and 26-year-old village man on Ralph Avenue Sept. 5. The two men, one black and one white, approached the village residents asking for money, then took about $250 in cash and two cell phones worth about $200, but the victims declined to press charges. No weapons were used.

The following items were also reported in the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department blotter between Sept. 2 and Sept. 8.

Village Code Violation: A Village man, 45, using his vehicle as a taxi without a hack license at Mamaroneck Train Station Plaza was charged Sept. 8 with a village code violation.

Assist Citizen: A vehicle drove past barricades blocking a flood zone on Fenimore Road and Baldwin Place and got stuck Sept. 8. The Town Police Department alerted the Village Police Department, who were unable to reach the car due to the flooding. Vincent's Garage was notified.

Accident Hit and Run: An unknown vehicle hit a 2007 Toyota and a 2008 Hyundai that were parked and unoccupied on Jensen Avenue Sept. 8.

Larceny: Someone entered a 2006 Chrysler between Sept. 5 - 6, and took a wallet while it was parked and unoccupied on Harrison Avenue.

Criminal Mischief: An iPod and GPS unit worth a combined $250 was taken from a 1999 Dodge parked and unoccupied on Mt. Pleasant Avenue Sept. 5. The passenger side window was broken.

Arrest: Police charged a Rye man, 23, with DWI after stopping him for a traffic infraction on Mamaroneck Avenue Sept. 5. A Rye man sitting in the passenger seat was issued a village summons for an open container.

Larceny: Police received a report Sept. 3 of miscellaneous tools, worth $1,800, being taken from a car that was park and unoccupied on Palmer Avenue.

Larceny: An unknown suspect broke the passenger window of a 2008 Lexus on Alda Road and took about $150 in cash Sept. 2.

Criminal Mischief: An unknown suspect broke the driver-side window of a 2009 Subaru Sept. 2 on The Parkway and took an iPod worth about $50.
