Time Capsule Assembly Tops Mamaroneck News This Week

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Here are the top stories of the week in Mamaroneck and Larchmont.

  • Hommocks faculty uncovered a time capsule created in 1988 and shared the artifacts, letters and predictions students left for their future counterparts.
  • The Mamaroneck and Rye Neck school districts' budgets both passed Tuesday with 73 percent of the vote each, according to unofficial election results. Rye Neck also passed a $1.47 million security bond to improve security. All candidates for both schools’ board of education were uncontested in their elections.
  • Community members announced several events aimed at raising funds to reinstate seven modified sports teams cut from the Mamaroneck schools budget three years ago. The group of parents formed Save Our Tigers and have raised the necessary funds each of the last three years. They would have to raise $74,000 by Aug. 1 this year.
