MAMARONECK, N.Y. - International tree expert Frank Buddingh will help Mamaroneck celebrate trees with a lecture on their beauty, risks and maintenance Saturday.
Buddingh is an arboricultural consultant who has 40-plus years of experience working with trees around the world. His clients range from major corporations, royal households, municipalities and homeowners. He holds a Master’s degree in holistic science from Schumacher College, University of Plymouth.
The Village of Mamaroneck Tree Committee will host Buddingh from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Mamaroneck Library. The village is one of about 3,400 municipalities to be named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
The Town of Mamaroneck and Larchmont are also Tree Cities. To receive this designation, a municipality must
- Maintain a tree board or department
- Have a community tree ordinance
- Spend at least $2 per capita on urban forestry
- Celebrate Arbor Day
