Trick or Treaters: Beware of Dangerous Roads

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Families will be able to go door-to-door for Halloween Monday night, but officials from the town and villages are urging caution due to the impact of Saturday's freak snow storm.

In the village, which Con Edison reports has 79 power outages Monday afternoon, Mayor Norman Rosenblum advised residents to avoid Wagner Avenue between Lorena Street and Frank Avenue due to a downed wire.

"Please be aware that Halloween is alive and well in the Village of Mamaroneck," wrote Rosenblum. "All, of course, should be aware of any branches or other impediments on the sidewalks and streets when going door to door. Parents of young children should take the normal protections escorting their children."

The town, which, according to Con Edison Monday evening, has 840 power outages in the town and 58 in the Village of Larchmont, advises parents to assume that any and all downed wires are live and hazardous, and to carry a flash light to identify those hazards, according to its website.
