MAMARONECK, N.Y. - A village man, 59, was robbed at gunpoint but left unharmed while walking home from the Mamaroneck train station, according to the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department. The incident took place on Stanley Street at about 8 p.m., Thursday.
Shortly thereafter, another Metro-North commuter walking home in Harrison on Willets Road around 9 p.m. was robbed, also at gunpoint. Harrison police said the same suspect may be behind the earlier incident in Mamaroneck.
In a scenario similar to recent armed robberies in the town, Pelham and New Rochelle, the suspect in both incidents reportedly approached the victims from behind. In Mamaroneck, he pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded his property. He then ran off on foot. In Harrison, the suspect struck the victim in the back of the head before the robbery, police said.
The Mamaroneck victim described the unidentified suspect as six feet tall, approximately 185 pounds, and wearing all black, including a black mask covering his face. Harrison Police described their suspect as roughly 5'10', 180 to 200 pounds. He was described to have been wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a light bandanna as a mask.
Harrison Police said their suspect fit the same description as the suspect in the Mamaroneck armed robbery.
