Verizon field technicians have sectioned off a small portion of one south-bound lane along W Boston Post Road between Mamaroneck Avenue and Library Lane, where they have opened a man-hole to replace copper cables.
Rick Moson, a field technician on the scene Monday afternoon, said they began work at 7:30 a.m. and likely won't finish until Friday. Another field technician working in the man-hole to replace the copper cables, said they had rotted, causing several interruptions of service in the area.
Verizon will inspect an area when they receive four or more complaints of service going out within a certain area, Morson said.
The small area will remain conned off until field technicians have finished work as a safety precaution. A few feet away, an electrical fire in the Exchequer building caused the Village of Mamaroneck Police and Fire Department to close Mamaroneck Avenue between W Boston Post Road and Prospect Avenue. Mamaroneck Avenue re-opened around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
