LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Larchmont Mayor Anne McAndrews said the Village’s Streetscape Project in the Palmer Avenue Business District has been suspended.
“It is a project the Village has not undertaken lightly, but with a great deal of consideration for the myriad of interest affected," she wrote. "Despite the Village’s commitment, however, and its concern for timely completion, the Village will not ignore failures to comply with the terms and conditions of the project. To that end, the Village determined to suspend all field work due to the contractor’s lack of such compliance.”
McAndrews did not say in the statement what the exact problem was with the contractor. Parking in the area has been re-opened and pedestrians can once again use all sidewalks. The Village is looking into ways to continue the project.
