Officials received complaints that one or more people "are walking around neighborhoods of the Village and advising that the Village or some other government entity is going to take property by eminent domain for development either as commercial or residential property."

This is false information and is potentially a scam, according to the Mamaroneck village manager.

The village is issuing this statement that the village has no plans to acquire property or engage in condemnation by eminent domain for any purpose related to development or redevelopment.

Further, it has been suggested that these persons may be utilizing false or fake badges or government ID, which is a crime.

If someone approaches you or a neighbor in relation to such proposals, contact the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department at 914-777-1122, ext. 3, and ask for a detective.

Any complaints will be investigated by the proper law enforcement authorities, Mamaroneck officials said.
