LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- The polls were slow Tuesday for the Village of Larchmont as the two candidates for Trustees and one for Village Justice ran uncontested. At the end of the day, a total of 47 voters had arrived to cast their ballots.

Lorraine Walsh and John Komar join the Board for two-year terms, and Thea Beaver takes on another four-year term as Village Justice.

Sheldon Hoffman, who has been working at the polls for more than 10 years, said that other years when the races are uncontested have seen an equally low turnout. "Some people do come because they feel a civic duty to vote," he said.

"I guess the people voting today were the trustees' families," Beaver said Tuesday.

Despite being so small, Hoffman said that in years when there are multiple candidates, Larchmont does draw out many voters for a very different turnout.
