Wake, Funeral Service Scheduled For Port Chester Crash Victim

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Calling hours are Tuesday for Joseph M. Touri, the 18-year-old from Rye Brook killed in a tragic single-car crash Friday afternoon near Port Chester High School, where he was a senior.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., Port Chester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook.

Touri was born April 5, 1996, in Port Chester to Mary  and John Touri, Sr.

He was a beloved son, grandson and brother and his passion was Jordan sneakers and playing basketball, according to his family.

Joey is survived by his parents; his sister, Christina; his brother, John Touri Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Connie Touri of New Rochelle; his maternal grandparents, Maria and Joseph Mendicino of Port Chester; a great aunt, Nancy Touri Miller; an uncle, Thomas Touri, and his wife, Tina; cousins Michael and Madison and Chris Touri and his wife, Gina; and cousins Alexandra and Nicole, and his godparents, Donna Tipton and Michael Paribello.

Joey also is survived by Montana, his beloved puppy, and many devoted friends who he considered to be a part of his family.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Joseph Touri, grandmother Elvira Mendicino, uncle Frank Touri and cousin Hanna Paribello. The family asks that memorial donations be made to www.gofundme.com/thetourifamily.

Police said Touri died of massive trauma about 3:30 p.m. Friday on College Avenue near Sycamore Lane when his Ford Mustang his a tree. Excessive speed was a factor, according to police. A passenger, Diana Pineda, 16, as partially ejected through the car's rear window and admitted to Westchester Medical Center with critical injuries.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash and whether a second car was involved.

Dozens of people visited the site of Touri's fatal crash on Monday, leaving candles, flowers and notes.
