"The Interview" is opening at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers at midnight Christmas Day, with a sold-out showing at midnight. The Alamo is one of 330 theaters showing the movie.

Sony also released the movie in paid, online rentals on Wednesday.

Sony had announced a week ago that it has canceled the planned Dec. 25 release of the movie following a hacking attack and in the wake of threats against theaters that planned to show the movie.

That decision came after several major cinemas dropped the film, a comedy which focuses on a pair of TV journalists, played by actors James Franco and Seth Rogen, who are recruited by the CIA in a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The U.S. government has blamed the North Korean government for the hacking attack.

Jared Mazzola, a Somers resident, said he would probably see the movie with his brother and he looked forward to seeing the movie.

"I'm really glad it's being released," Mazzola said.

Carl Banks, a Mount Kisco resident, said he was pleased that Sony decided to release the movie and not give into the hackers.

"I just wish it was a better movie," Banks said.

Niall Washburn, a Katonah resident, said he was glad people will have the opportunity to see the movie, though he will not be buying a ticket.

"I wouldn't waste my time," Washburn said. "It's not because of North Korea though."

John Reed, a Katonah resident, said he and his family were in Seth Rogen's demographic and that he intended to see "The Interview."

"I like silly, lowbrow comedies," Reed said. "We'll probably watch it at home. I can't believe Sony caved in and wouldn't release something so silly."

Chris Iorio said he wasn't going to let Kim Jong Un tell him what he can and cannot see.

"It's something I want to see," Iorio, a Katonah resident, said. "I'll probably see it in theaters."

Will Stewart, a Katonah resident, said it was pathetic for North Korea to try to cancel the movie's release.

"It's just satire," Stewart said.
