What Does A Day in the Life of Larchmont Look Like

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Get your cameras ready Thursday because the Larchmont Historical Society (LHS) wants residents to photograph "A Day in the Life of Larchmont", which they will consider for entry into an exhibit by the same name.

The LHS wants photos taken from midnight to midnight Thursday and is welcoming amateur and professional photographers of any age to participate. Photos can focus on anything you see throughout your day, including domestic scenes, work, school or iconic Larchmont images.

Lynne Crowley, LHS archivist, organized the first "Day in the Life of Larchmont" photo exhibit in celebration of the village's centennial in 1991.

"This program was enthusiastically received by the community twenty years ago, and I hope that we will have the same level of enthusiasm and participation in 2011," Crowley said. "We are excited to create an exhibit which will not only help to record our local history, but also to showcase some of the creative talent of our residents. We hope to document a ‘snapshot in time’ in the history of Larchmont.”

Participants can submit up to 10 photos taken on Oct. 20 until Nov. 5 and must sign up by e-mail and include your name, mailing address, e-mail address and state that you agree to the terms of submission.
