What's Happening in Larchmont This Weekend

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- A senior art show at the library, open auditions for a local production of “Smokey Joe's Café” and Lego Club are some events happening in Larchmont this weekend.

Friday

- Open Call Audition for “Smokey Joe's Cafe,” 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Westchester Sandbox Theatre (WST) is holding open call auditions for their main stage production of “Smokey Joe's Cafe,” which will run from June 29 to July 8 at the Emelin Theatre - rehearsals begin June 18. The WST asks you bring a headshot and resume and be prepared to sing two contrasting 16-bar cuts in the style of the show - an accompanist will be provided. The five male roles and four female roles being cast pay $150 per week. Auditions, as well as call backs will be held at Ripley Grier Studios, 520 8th Ave., 16th floor, NYC.

- Friday's With Franklin, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The Voracious Reader's treasured and wonderful-with-children Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who enjoys being read to, will be at the popular book store during the day.

Saturday

- Mamaroneck Indoor Farmers Market , 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

This winter famers market is held every Saturday through May 19 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 168 W. Boston Post Road.

- Larchmont–Mamaroneck Senior Center Art Show Reception, 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.

The 39th annual exhibit, in the Larchmont Library's Oresman Gallery for the month of April, features the works of 25 seniors attending the art class led by artist and instructor Patricia Sutherland. Artwork includes oils, watercolor, acrylic, pastels and graphic pencil. Larchmont Library, 121 Larchmont Ave.

- Lego Club, 3 p.m.

The Larchmont Library's Lego Club, for ages 7 and up, meets monthly. Kids create their own project based on a different theme each month. This month's theme is "Anything You Want." To register, go in person, or call 914-834-2281.

Sunday

Shelter Cats Photo Exhibit, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Local photographer Elisabeth Pollaert Smith's work at the Voracious Reader through April 22. Pollaert photographed shelter cats from the New Rochelle Humane Society. The proceeds from the sale of her work and greeting cards go to the shelter. The Voracious Reader, 1997 Palmer Ave.
