What's Happening in Mamaroneck This Week

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Residents of Mamaroneck will have just a few chances to get involved with their local government during a short week following the Presidents Day holiday.

Monday

Village and Town of Mamaroneck offices, and the Mamaroneck Library are closed.

Tuesday

The Mamaroneck Library holds Babytime Rhythm and Rhymes for ages 2 through 6 (accompanied by a grown-up) at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Babytime is a 20-30 minute program consisting of nursery rhymes and songs, clapping, bouncing, finger-games and the occasional picture book story. Caregivers are expected to attend and their participation is an important element of this program.

The Village of Mamaroneck Avenue Task Force Committee will meet at 12:30 p.m. in the Regatta Conference Room on 123 Mamaroneck Ave.

The village will hold Grievance Night at 5 p.m. in the courtroom on 169 Mount Pleasant Ave.

Wednesday

The Mamaroneck Library holds 2's Company: Stories 'N' More for 2-year-olds at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. 2's Company is a 30 to 45-minute thematic program consisting of picture book stories, songs and games and culminating in a craft or other hands-on activity. Caregivers are expected to attend and their participation is an important element of this program.

The village board of trustees will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. in the Regatta Conference Room, where it will review the concept of overriding the tax levy cap, which would require adopting a local law, as the town considered during its 2012-2013 budget process. The village will also discuss scheduling a public hearing for the tentative 2012-2013 budget on March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the village courtroom. The village planning board will meet at 7 p.m. in the courtroom on 169 Mount Pleasant Ave., where it will hold a public hearing on a wetland permit for 516 Shore Acres Dr. to reconfigure an existing recreational docking facility and shoreline stabilization. The Mamaroneck Artist Guild, on 126 Larchmont Ave., presents the work of seven artists in the 7 Visions exhibit, on display from Feb. 14 to March 3.
