9/11 Responder, Mamaroneck Resident Jeffrey Amato Dies At 51

Jeff Amato Sr. of Mamaroneck died Friday, Oct. 13 surrounded by his family and friends. He was 51.

Born June 2, 1966, to Gerald and Renee Amato in Suffern, Amato was known for being a selfless man dedicated to helping others. 

As a construction worker during 9/11, Amato was involved in the search, recovery and clean up at Ground Zero. Like many other first responders, his illness stemmed from his efforts at the site.

Amato worked at Petmar Construction until his illness advanced. In his free time, he served as the vice president of the New Rochelle Hell’s Angel’s Motorcycle Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann Amato (DiBello) of Mamaroneck; daughter Alexa- Rae Budetti; son and namesake Jeffrey Paul Amato Jr. and his girlfriend Shannon LaBella; daughter Lauren Amato; grandsons Tristan Carlo and Carmine LaBella; mother, Renee Amato; sisters; Andrea Lewkowitz and brother-in-law Angel (Bugout) Corazon; Debbi Giarameta and husband Michael, and brother; Gerald Amato.

A visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the funeral home.
