Amedeo Magnotta, 89, Of Mamaroneck

Amedeo Magnotta of Mamaroneck died at the age of 89.

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Amedeo Magnotta of Mamaroneck died June 24. He was 89. 

Born Feb. 22, 1923 in Guardia Di Lombardi, Italy, he was the son of Angela Iuni and Pietro Magnotta. He served in the Italian Army during World War II. Shortly after the war, he moved with his family to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later to the U.S., before settling in Mamaroneck. 

Magnotta enjoyed reading, especially the encyclopedia with his grandchildren. He also liked to tend to his garden and fig trees, hunt small game and share coffee with friends at Italian cafes in Mount Vernon. 

Magnotta is survived by a daughter Angela (Jim) Tobin of White Plains, two sisters Felicia Ricciardi and Concetta Magnotta, a brother Luigi (Ida) Magnotta and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Teresa Giordano Magnotta. 

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon, Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westchester Artificial Kidney Center, 234 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford NY 10523.
