Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Everett, Mass., she was the daughter of Robert E. Reed and Mary Agnes Donovan Reed.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Reed Johnson and Sr. Helen Reed SSND (School Sisters of Notre Dame); and brother James Reed.

She is survived by Margaret's children -- six nieces and one nephew -- and their families.

She spent her summers in Breezy Point, where her family owned a house. But she focused her time on her hometown, as a longtime parishioner of Mararoneck's Holy Trinity Parish and an active member of the Mamaroneck Women’s Club.

In addition to her local activities, she also was involved with the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Daughters of the American Revolution, New York chapter.

Contributions in her memory can be made to the New Rochelle Humane Society from which Barbara adopted many dogs and cats. Visit the humane society's website for more details.
