Carolyn Marie 'Lynn' Adams, former Westchester County Employee, 87

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Carolyn Marie Adams, who lived in Mamaroneck for more than 45 years and who was a former employee of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, died Saturday, Aug. 15, in Dallas, Texas. She was 87.

Adams was born to John Edward and Mary Catherine (Conneely) Dixey and grew up in Brighton, Mass., with her five siblings Ned, George, Bobby, Joan and June.

Known as “Lynn,” Adams as a young woman worked at Central Foundry in New York City for financier Sydney Gondelman.

She married Jack Adams in 1961 and moved to Akron, Ohio. The couple returned to the area in 1967 and settled in Mamaroneck.

She went back into the workforce at the age of 60, working for the Westchester County Police for 10 years, the family said.

Adams is survived by her sons, Michael, John, and Joseph; daughters-in-law Pam, Diana, and Sue; grandchildren, Nick, Matthew, Michael, Chelyse, Naomi, John Jr., Katherine, and Ian; and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Madeleine.

Her husband died in 2005.

Adams was buried on Aug. 24 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.
