MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Charles Joseph Hessler, a lifelong resident of the Village of Mamaroneck, died April 19. He was 93.
Hessler was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy. He is a former member of the Rye Town and Village of Mamaroneck Republican Committee and the Village of Mamaroneck Harbor Commission. He also served as a legislative correspondent of the Long Island League of Saltwater Sportsmen and past Commodore of the Harbor Island Boat Club.
Hessler was a parishioner of the Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the president and owner of J.D. Brophy Inc. of Harrison, from 1970-2008. In 2012, he was inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
Hessler is survived by his wife, Ethel "Rusty" (Kerr) Hessler; children, Barbara Kapsiak (Thomas) of New Milford, Conn., Elizabeth Peloso (Paul Abrahamsen) of Mamaroneck, Carolyn Koller (Dan) of Millersville, Md., and Charles W. Hessler (Wendy) of Palmyra, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are Saturday, April 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck 914-698-5968 where a service will begin at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
