Diane Fajen, 70, Longtime Larchmont Resident

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Diane Fajen, a forty-year resident of Larchmont, died on Sunday, Jan. 11. of ovarian cancer. She was 70.

Born in the Bronx in 1944, Fajen graduated from Tufts University /Boston-Bouve College with a degree in physical therapy, a vocation she practiced for nearly five decades up until three weeks before her death.

She settled her family in Larchmont in 1974, where she practiced physical therapy, coached junior soccer league teams and became a lifetime member of Manor Beach. 

She loved the theater, gardening, cooking, traveling, 1950’s music, picnics, museums, ice cream and match-making.

In 2009, Fajen was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She was not only a tireless advocate on her own behalf, but she participated in fundraising events and conferences for cancer research, volunteered with Survivors Teaching Students and worked for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Share hotline, offering support and guidance to newly diagnosed patients. She sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and traveled to the Galapagos Islands.
