MAMARONECK, N.Y. — Dorothy A. Byron, a longtime Mamaroneck resident, died March 7. She was 91.
Byron was born on Feb. 7, 1922, in the Bronx to Frederick and Christine Dehn. She worked for the N.Y. Telephone Co. for many years; she also worked for the Mamaroneck Unified Free School District as a bus driver and route organizer.
She was a longtime member of the Columbiettes and the Harbor Island Senior Center, and also volunteered for numerous local organizations. She was a parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Church where she sang in the choir for many years.
Byron is survived by her children, Frances (Richard) Magrino, Patricia (Gary) Rosen, William (Robyn) Byron and Christine (Michael) Cokeley; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William; her brothers Fred and Frank Dehn; and and her longtime partner Jack Mayne.
Calling hours will be Saturday, March 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, March 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, at 767 E.Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 320 East Boston Post Road. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
